Unfortunately, with the passing years, even these classics have started to look a little dated – but fear not OpenRA adds a whole host of additions, tweaks and improvements that make C&C feel new again. Since EA took over the reigns, Command & Conquer has long since fallen from grace, but the original games (particularly Red Alert) still hold a place in every RTS fans heart.
OpenRA is an incredible fan made project that recreates C&C (Tiberian Dawn), C&C: Red Alert, and Dune 2000, and updates them for the modern era, with optimised Full Screen HD visuals, an improved UI, new units, unit veterancy, fog of war, proper online multiplayer support and full match replays.Ĭommand & Conquer used to be the benchmark for Real Time Strategy games, offering up easily accessible, but deeply strategic gameplay that allowed for intense battles on a grand scale.
